Chance of An Encounter
Bill (not real name) was introduced to Fishers of Men by a champion and supporter of the Outreach Center. Bill is well connected in Fort Worth and would be a good connection, so I arranged for us to meet over lunch. As we got acquainted, we both wondered, out loud, why our mutual friend wanted us to meet. I described to Bill the Fishers of Men mission—to provide food, clothing, temporary shelter, and other essential services with loving care. I also related that as this trusting relationship is built, it allows us to share the love of Christ and the good news of His salvation.
Bill sat in silence for a moment then looked me straight in the eyes and said, “I have a 28-year-old daughter who lives on the streets of Fort Worth.” I was stunned! I knew right then that this was the initial reason why God connected us!
He explained that she graduated from college, but the enemy planted thoughts in her mind, and she succumbed to the fear of living in the real world, mentally unable to function responsibly. He could not even see or speak to her on the streets. If she knew he was there, she would run away. All he had was a picture of her back from a distance walking down the sidewalk.
This heartbreaking story is a clear reminder to all of us, NO ONE is immune from becoming homeless. It can be your family member, friend, neighbor, or even yourself! The latest statistic is that homelessness has increased across the board by 43% in the last two years.
Bill can no longer connect with his daughter, but FOM can! FOM was founded to assist those, like Bill’s daughter, who cannot navigate life’s circumstances successfully to live as responsible children of God.
The champions of Fishers of Men are vital in providing the support necessary for meeting the practical needs of people just like Bill’s daughter. With your generous gift, you are affecting change in this region that is in such desperate need.
Our prayer is that one day soon, Bill’s daughter will be led to Fishers of Men where God’s healing grace will restore her heart, mind, and soul. What a joyous day it will be when she returns to Bill and his family! Please give generously and become part of this and hundreds of other stories of restoration.

Fishers of Men hosted community event at the new location at 2740 Ave. K. This outdoor event is continuing in service to the community, where they were fed ribs, hot dogs and all the trimmings at a July 4 Celebration. Basic essentials, like clothing were also provided for those in need. The highlight of the day was a waterslide that was enjoyed by the kids as well as serving as a baptistry for two attendees. One of whom rededicated their life to Jesus and another person accepted Jesus as their savior for the first time. What an fantastic way to expose the community to all the incredible ministry that will take place in this new facility! |
